Brent is the world’s main crude oil benchmark. It prices a light, sweet blend of North Sea crudes (Brent, Forties, Oseberg, Ekofisk and Troll) together with US WTI Midland crude delivered to Rotterdam, and most internationally traded crude is priced against it in some way.
The figures on this page are the daily Brent spot price (free on board) assessed for the physical market and published by the EIA a few working days later. The live chart shows a continuous futures-based price, which trades almost around the clock and can differ from the spot assessment.
