Integrity

Compliance & integrity

How we verify counterparties, screen for sanctions and protect our clients — and our name — from fraud.

Principles

How we hold ourselves to account

Verification

We confirm documents with the party that issued them — not with the party that sent them.

Transparency

Terms, fees and responsibilities are agreed in writing before any work begins.

Compliance

Counterparties are screened against applicable sanctions lists before we engage.

Independence

Quantity and quality are certified by independent inspectors appointed under the contract.

Know your counterparty

What we ask every counterparty for

KYC is completed on both sides before offers or documents are exchanged. We ask for the same information we would expect to give.

KYC & due diligence services
  • Certificate of incorporation and a recent extract from the company register
  • Details of shareholders, directors and ultimate beneficial owners
  • Identification of the directors and authorised signatories
  • Evidence of authority to sign, such as a board resolution or power of attorney
  • Bank and trade references
  • For sellers: documents showing title to the product that we can confirm with the issuer

Sanctions

Sanctions screening

We screen counterparties, their beneficial owners, the vessels nominated and the jurisdictions involved against applicable sanctions lists, including those of the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Sanctions in the energy sector change often. Screening is repeated when the circumstances of a transaction change, and we decline business that we cannot clear.

Commitments

Our commitments to every counterparty

  • We never ask for payment for product allocation, tank storage or “proof of product” before a contract is signed and the product is verified.
  • We send offers, contracts and invoices only from @alupetra.com email addresses.
  • We do not deal with sanctioned persons, entities, vessels or jurisdictions.
  • Every fee is agreed in writing before work begins.

Fraud warning

Protect yourself from impersonation

Fraudulent offers that misuse the names of real trading companies are common in commodity markets. Before acting on any message that appears to come from Alupetra:

  • Check that the sender’s address ends in @alupetra.com.
  • Confirm the message by calling one of the numbers on our contact page — not a number given in the message.
  • Never pay into a personal account, or into an account held in a name other than the contracting company’s.
  • Treat any request for an upfront “allocation”, “storage” or “registration” fee as a warning sign.

If you receive a suspicious message in our name, please forward it to cm@alupetra.com.
